Cabin Fever 2024

Thanks to everyone who attended Cabin Fever 2024 on the 29th December. This was the 21st edition of this event. Unlike last year’s rain-soaked meet, the weather was good this year with dry conditions all day and it wasn’t too cold considering it was the last Sunday in December.

Approximately 20 people attended. There was a total of 8 motorcycles present, made up of 4 Buells, 3 Guzzis and 1 Ducati. See images below. It was good to meet up with many friends from the early days of the UK Buell Enthusiasts Group.

The Buell XB12R and XB9R Firebolts ridden by Paul and Ian respectively were very clean low mileage examples of these particular models.

Perhaps the most interesting machine at this year’s Cabin Fever meet was a rare Carver One trike driven by Gill. This Dutch made vehicle has a unique tilting body and is powered by an 80bhp 659cc Daihatsu 16v turbo inline-four, driving the rear wheels through a conventional five-speed manual transmission.

Rather than travel there and back from West Yorkshire in one day as we’ve done in previous years, we stayed Saturday night at The Strawberry Bank Hotel in Meriden. Located just 4 miles from the National Motorcycle Museum this hotel provided secure parking with CCTV for our motorcycles and the food was excellent. Cabin Fever 2023 was very well attended with approx. 30 people making the journey to the National Motorcycle Museum.

Thank you to everyone who came along.

There were 4 motorcycles at the event, 2 Moto Guzzis, 1 Royal Enfield and 1 Yamaha. Thanks to Steve Loxton (Himalayan) and Glynn + partner (V7 Racer + Yamaha) for braving the conditions.

The 20th edition was certainly one of the wettest Cabin Fever meets. It didn’t rain much while we were at the museum but the 220-mile round trip from West Yorkshire was blighted with periods of heavy rain. Our 2005 109,000-mile Breva V1100 didn’t miss a beat.
